New York Yankees April Schedule Primer

With the season about to begin, before each month, we here at Yanks Go Yard will get you ready for the month with breakdown of all the opponents for each month. With that in mind, let’s take a look at April.

Total Games: 27

Interleague Games: 2

Divisional Games: 17

The Yankees have a ton of interesting games right away. 17 of 27 games are against the AL East. The Yankees will be in Toronto opening weekend. Derek Jeter‘s last home opener (sigh) will be against the Orioles. The Yankees will see the Red Sox six times and go to Tampa for four games.

The interleague match-up will be two home games against the Chicago Cubs. While the Cubs aren’t a very good team right now, games between two of the most historic franchises in baseball history will be interesting.

The out of division games are all against the AL West. The Yankees open the season against the Houston Astros in Houston. After that, 17 of the next 19 are against the division.

The Yankees end the month at home with three against Mike Trout and the Los Angeles Angels, then face a guy named Robinson Cano and the Seattle Mariners to conclude the month.

The Yankees have a very interesting and difficult April. We may learn quite a bit about this team in month number one.
