Yankees Sign Chris LeRoux To A Minor League Deal

Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

The Yankees signed righty relief pitcher Chris LeRoux late Monday to a minor league deal, with an invite to spring training.  His career has been largely plagued by injuries, as he spent time bouncing from the Florida Marlins to the Pittsburgh Pirates, to the Yakult Swallows in Japan.  His numbers are unimpressive at best, including an ERA over 9 in Japan last season.

Leroux is a tall righty with a fastball in the mid 90s.  The 6’6 reliever hopes to finally get his cleats in the dirt long enough to prove himself worthy of an MLB roster spot.  He’s still just 29, so this may be the year he puts it all together.
