I don’t know if this is the straw that broke the camel’s back on the Yankee season, though it just might be. This was as brutal as loss for the Yankees as they’ve had in quite a while. The Yankees had two chances to win this game and it didn’t happen as they are swept by the White Sox 6-5 in Chicago.
CC Sabathia delivered his best outing in a while. The wheels began to fall apart a little bit in the fifth. Gordon Beckham hit his third homer of the year in the fifth. In the seventh, Alejandro De Aza and Alex Rios singled. Paul Konerko‘s double made it 4-2, and Beckham followed with a fielder’s choice that brought another run in.
The Yankees had a chance to win in the 10th but it didn’t happen. Then the 11th came and then the 12th.
Adam Warren got the first two outs. Tyler Flowers hit a little groundball that deflected off his glove that no one could make a play on. Alexei Ramirez would follow with a single. De Aza’s triple would end it and give the Sox the win.
YGY Player Of The Game: Beckham
Notes: The union filed its formal appeal of A-Rod’s suspension. More than likely, it won’t be heard until after the season
