Yanks Go Yard Recap: Bats Silent As New York Yankees Fall In Texas
By Jason Evans
As the New York Yankees wait for some sort of cavalry to arrive (more on that later) the season continues to slip away. The Yankees are now seven games out of the division and 3.5 out of the Wild Card, as they fell to Texas tonight in Matt Garza‘s Ranger debut by a score of 3-1.

Andy Pettitte gave up yet another first inning run. Ian Kinsler led off the game with a single and was bunted over to second. Another single moved him to third. Two batters later, A.J. Pierzynski brought home Kinsler with a single.
Andy settled down and the score stayed the same until the sixth. Brett Gardner reached on an infield single and went to third on Garza’s error. Two batters later, Robinson Cano brought him home to tie the game.
Pierzynski gave the Rangers back the lead when he hit his 10th homer of the year. The Rangers got an insurance run in the eighth when David Murphy hit his 11th homer of the year of Shawn Kelley.

The series concludes at 2:05 ET tomorrow afternoon. Hiroki Kuroda will face Derek Holland.
Notes: The Yankees placed Luis Cruz on the DL with a knee injury and recalled David Adams. Curtis Granderson and Jayson Nix will be playing in Tampa tomorrow as they begin rehab assignments. Derek Jeter ran sprints before the game but hasn’t been cleared to run the bases yet and may need to go out on another rehab assignment. David Phelps will pitch in one more rehab start then come back to the club. Alex Rodriguez apparently had a second opinion on his quad that wasn’t exactly sanctioned by the club. The doctor said he’s not injured and should be cleared to go. The Yankees released a statement saying that they didn’t know about it. Lastly, Alfonso Soriano would waive his no trade to come to the Yankees.
