Yanks Go Yard Recap: New York Yankees Shut Out By Holland

This was the Yankees lineup today; Ichiro Suzuki CF, Jayson Nix SS, Robinson Cano DH, Vernon Wells RF, Zoilo Almonte LF, Lyle Overbay 1B, David Adams 2B, Alberto Gonzalez 3B, Austin Romine C. You can see why the Yankees could only muster two hits against Derek Holland and why the Yankees lost 2-0. That is only good enough in AAA, not in the majors.

The Yankees have all sorts of injury problems, and gave certain guys days off. However, if this team is going to contend they need to make a deal sooner, rather than later.  That lineup just screams for help. Don’t blame Phil Hughes for this one. Two runs over eight innings should be enough to get you a W.

The Rangers got one run in the third. David Murphy led off with a single. Jurickson Profar walked and Murphy was caught trying to go to third. Engel Beltre singled and Profar went to third. Ian Kinsler drove Profar home with a sac fly. Profar led off the top of the fifth with a homer, his third of the year.

YGY Player Of The Game: Holland

The Yankees head to Baltimore to take on the Orioles this weekend. David Phelps will get the ball for the Yankees. We don’t know about the Orioles quite yet. First pitch at 7:05.

Notes: The Yankees are talking to Ian Stewart about a minor-league contract. Derek Jeter ran for the first time on the field and felt good. It’s a big step in his rehab progression. The Yankees were at the workout of Cuban defector Daniel Alvarez yesterday.
