By Jason Evans

The A’s got the scoring going right away in the bottom of the first, when Coco Crisp hit his eighth homer of the year on Sabathia’s second pitch. In the second Josh Reddick reached on a fielder’s choice. Derek Norris drove him in with a bloop double down the right field line. In the fourth, Nate Freiman and Chris Young singled and two batters later, Norris hit his third homer of the year to make it 5-0. In the sixth, Josh Donaldson doubled and went to third on a groundout. Young walked and a wild pitch made it 6-0.
It stayed that way until the eighth, when the Yankees made it interesting. Brett Gardner and Robinson Cano singled. Mark Teixeira followed with a single of his own for the first run. Three batters later, Vernon Wells singled in Cano to make it 6-2. In the ninth, Chris Stewart singled and two batters later Cano doubled. Teixeira singled both of them home. Travis Hafner flew out to the wall to end the game.
