Write for Yanks Go Yard

Part of our goal here at Yanks Go Yard is to offer up as much coverage of the New York Yankees as we possibly can. In an effort to keep up with all of that news and bring you, our readers, the analysis that you’ve come to expect from us, we’re continuously on the lookout for additions to our team.

We’re looking for individuals with a working knowledge of the team, desire to help cover everything that happens in the game, and a passion for baseball writing. Prior experience isn’t necessarily required, though it certainly helps.

The open position we’re looking to fill is outlined below.

Staff Writers

> Commit to contributing 1 to 2 posts per week. More is certainly welcome, but this is the bare minimum mark that we ask of our writers. Topic selection and scheduling are often worked out with the site’s editor in advance and often vary from writer to writer based upon availability. We’re looking for help with game recaps, analyzing transactions, and covering the organization’s minor leagues among other things.

> Participate in staff related discussions regarding the site, topics, etc.

> Assist with growing the site, including efforts to promote our work and build up our community of readers.

Currently this is an unpaid position, but there are certainly plenty of non-monetary benefits to joining the YGY team and the FanSided Network. We cover all of the site design and technical stuff, plus a host of other items on the backend which allows our writers to focus solely on writing. We’ve assembled a huge collection of talented writers to learn from and network with, while sharpening your abilities as a writer and expanding the potential audience that your work might reach.

The icing on the cake is a huge content partnership that we have with Sports Illustrated’s online presence, something that offers up some extraordinary exposure opportunities for all of our writers.

Anyone interested in applying for one of our open positions or curious to know more about the expectations we ask of our writers, please complete our online application. We’ll be in touch from there.
