Ouch: Phil Hughes was pitching in a simulated game. In the first inning, David Adams hit a line drive that hit him right in the middle of the back. He came out of it okay and finished off by throwing 41 pitches in two innings. Hughes will pitch in a minor league game Friday or Saturday and ramp up to 55 pitches. He’s going to try and throw 90 pitches in a game April 2nd for Tampa. If that works, he can start April 7th against the Tigers.
Who’s at short?: Could Derek Jeter DH opening day? Joe Girardi said it’s possible since the Yankees will probably be facing Jon Lester and the Red Sox. Eduardo Nunez could be at short. Girardi said it’s possible that any right hand hitter could be at DH on opening day.
Coming Back: Positive Yankee injury news! Ronnier Mustelier will start today at third. Boone Logan will pitch today for the first time this spring.
WBC: Robinson Cano will lead the Dominican Republic against Puerto Rico for the WBC championship tonight at 8pm on MLB Network
