The end of the regular season is finally here and the New York Yankees have clinched a postseason berth. The month of September was filled with division drama and by Wednesday night, we will hopefully have the answer to who wins the American League East. The Yankees had to battle out of Canada just to split with the Toronto Blue Jays, but nevertheless, they were still able to remain tied on top of the division with the Baltimore Orioles. If the two teams remain tied after Wednesday, there will be a one-game playoff on Thursday in Camden Yards with the loser playing in the Wild Card game the following night. Now, the last series will still have intrigue based on what’s at stake and the opponent.
The Boston Red Sox come into town for the final time in 2012 and they are just looking to end the season on a positive note after a soap opera filled season. Bobby Valentine lined up Clay Buchholz to start the opener of this series vs. CC Sabathia on Monday and elected to go with Zach Stewart instead in their loss to the Orioles. With Buchholz and Jon Lester going into the series, they will look for a chance to salvage anything from this series. The big news for the Yankees will be who is coming back to the lineup.
On Monday, New York will get first baseman Mark Teixeira into the lineup. That is huge for not only the Yankees’ offense, but for their defense in the field now that you get a Gold Glove first baseman back into the mix. Plus, now that Brett Gardner and David Aardsma are back, the Yankees add reinforcements to their run this week with the all hands on deck mentality.
For this show, I talk about New York’s series in Toronto, break down the pitching matchups for this week, give my prediction, and go over every scenario of possible shows we will have for you at Yanks Go Yard later this week!!
