Yanks Go Yard Series Preview Show: Yankees at Orioles (9/6 – 9/9)

The Yankees’ rocky slide continued in Tampa Bay, but on Wednesday night, they snapped out of it in a big way. Manager Joe Girardi had a player’s meeting before the game and catcher Russell Martin had three RBI out of the number-five spot in the lineup. The Yankees are now a full game ahead of the Baltimore Orioles heading into a crucial four-game series at Camden Yards. For fans who still think the Orioles are not for real, I think it is time for them to think again!

This will be the last series the Yankees and the Orioles will play this year in the regular season. As for potential postseason series, that remains to be seen. The Orioles are coming off of a series in Toronto where they took two of three from the Blue Jays. Last weekend, the Orioles took two of three from the Bronx Bombers in Yankee Stadium with help from Mark Reynolds and the long ball.

The key in this series is going to be whether or not Yankee pitchers can keep the ball inside Camden Yards. The atmosphere in Baltimore is going to feel like a playoff series as people in Baltimore are saying this is the biggest regular season series in the history of their ballpark. The question will also be whether or not the Bombers get Mark Teixeira back to plug into the lineup.

For this show, I talked with Domenic Vadala from Birdswatcher.com to discuss the reaction around Baltimore heading into their momentous weekend, the pitching matchups, and whether or not this team can actually make the playoffs and win the American League East?
