It turned out that the Yankees brought their lack of hitting with runners in scoring position to the Atlanta Braves dugout this past series. Down in Atlanta, the New York Yankees were able to continue their winning ways with another three game sweep. With the help of timely hitting from Alex Rodriguez, great starting pitching, and huge outs from the bullpen, the Bombers were able to re-gain first place in the American League East heading into a series this weekend that will feel like a World Series matchup.

The Yankees (37-25) and winners of six straight travel down to the nation’s capital to take on another team who has won six straight in the 38-23 Washington Nationals. The Nats have caught the eye of a lot of baseball fans with their two young stars in starting pitcher Stephen Strasburg and outfielder Bryce Harper. They have become the two players that every baseball fan does not want to miss play.

Washington has also been strengthened by their young players who have stepped in for some of their injured players like relievers Brad Lidge and Drew Storen, outfielder Mike Morse and first baseman Adam LaRoche. For example, when Laroche missed Wednesday’s game due to a sore left foot, it was no problem for Davey Johnson’s team as Tyler Moore hit two home runs to lead the team to victory.

Now, this series with all the stars in it despite no Sabathia or Strasburg on the mound will still feel like a potential World Series preview. The Yankees will see some familiar faces from the American League in Gio Gonzlez and Edwin Jackson during the series. “Natitude” is embracing the DC area and despite the possible shut down of their ace by management, their fans are still optimistic about the club’s future, which includes a potential title run this year.

For this podcast, I brought on a double dose of experts. Aaron Somers and Andy Linder from DistrictOnDeck.com joined me to give Yankees’ fans all the details on the pitching matchups, Harper’s impact, Strasburg’s potential shutdown, and the true meaning of Natitude! In turn, they asked me about the Yankees’ bullpen, Derek Jeter, and the impact of no Brett Gardner for another month.

Coming up this Sunday, we will be hosting another edition of the Yanks Go Yard podcast brought to you by BaldVinny.com. This weekend, it will be another Braves’ show with Fred Owens from TomahawkTake.com. So, join me at 8 PM to break it all down!
