Mariners-Yankees Podcast Preview

Earlier this week, the Yankees (17-14) were able to take two of three from the AL East co-leading Tampa Bay Rays. They got great pitching from CC Sabathia as well as Ivan Nova. The only blip on the screen was the blown save by David Robertson on Wednesday. Now, the Seattle Mariners (15-18) come to town in a series that is going to draw numerous story lines.

For one, the Yankees will face a guy in Felix Hernandez tonight that has had their number over the last few seasons. I mean, he dominates them so much that the Yankees kept trying to trade for him, but got Michael Pineda instead. Also, the Mariners come to New York with two familiar faces in catcher/DH Jesus Montero and starting pitcher Hector Noesi (Saturday’s starter).

Finally, on Mother’s Day, the intrigue of Andy Pettitte‘s first start will captivate the Yankee Stadium crowd. This is not your ordinary Mariners-Yankees series folks!

Because of this, I brought in two Mariners writers (Bryant Bartlett and Harrison Crow) from Sodomojo.com to breakdown the series, give the state of the Mariners, and get in a discussion about Michael Pineda along with the trades Brian Cashman has tried to make with Seattle.

Enjoy the show below and we will be back with three series previews next week!
