So, who is in first place in the AL East as we head into May? THE BALTIMORE ORIOLES? Yes, the Orioles are 14-8 and are leaders in the division right now. Buck Showalter has his guys playing some resilient baseball as they feed off the momentum from the late season surge last year. Their pitching is one of the top ten in MLB in terms of ERA and they have good young hitters in Adam Jones, Matt Wieters, and even Nolan Reimold.

However, they face a monumental task this week as they head to Yankee Stadium to take on the Bombers. New York was able to take two of the three from the Tigers over the weekend. The pitching rotation is still an issue, but the bats are starting to heat up. New York is having a decent April and they look to continue that against a team who they swept in the second series of the season up in Camden Yards.

Here is what I talk about on the podcast this week:

  • Yankees-Tigers Recap
  • Orioles Rundown
  • Pitching Matchups
  • Hammel – most consistent
  • Internal demons galore in Bronx
  • Kuroda’s need for consistency
  • 2 underachievers on Tuesday
  • Hughes – Understudy audition?
  • Matusz approaching Jo-Jo Reyes Territory?
  • Nova’s quest for history – needs command
  • Arrieta looking for Opening Day stuff
  • PREDICTION!
  • My Yankee hitter and pitcher of the month
