Hughes, Swish, & a Team Without a Home: Wednesday Yankees Links

  • The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, sorry, Empire State Yankees could find themselves without a baseball home into the beginning of the 2013 season.
  • An unnamed scout has told ESPN’s Andrew Marchand that Phil Hughes “has to start.” There also happen to be a lot of voices out there claiming that Andy Pettitte and Ivan Nova have to start. Everyone knows there are only 5 rotation spots available, right?
  • Hughes certainly made the case for himself in his final spring start yesterday. After allowing a first-inning home run Hughes adjusted to retired 12 of the next 14 batters, going 5 strong innings on the day.
  • Injury update time: Nick Swisher and his sore groin are taking things a day at a time with no targeted return date, while Derek Jeter is hoping to be back on the field by Friday.
