D-Rob, Cano, and Freddy: Weekend Yankees Links

  • Dave Robertson is slated to return to action this week after suffering some severe bruising when he tripped down some stairs in his house. There is still plenty of time for him to get his innings in before Opening Day, so this is great news for the Yanks
  • From one bone bruise to another: Robinson Cano was hit on the hand in Sunday’s game, but x-rays show that it is not broken. More good news for the Yankees.
  • The Yankees spent nearly $3M on international players last season, enough to rank them 11th out of the 30 MLB teams. As you can tell from the Yankees’ position on the overall list, international spending was pretty low last year. In comparison, the Rangers spent the most on international players, racking up a total bill of $12.8M.
  • IATMS has a piece on how they see the Andy Pettitte comeback playing out with regards to Freddy Garcia’s lineup spot. One of the most interesting aspects of this article is that it proves the debate about the Yankees fifth starter is still alive and well. And chances are the debate won’t be settled for a good portion of the season, either.
