Yankees Spring Training: Game 3

facebooktwitterreddit

The Good:

Curtis Granderson started off Saturday’s game with a home run and a double. Not to be outdone, Alex Rodriguez had a home run and a double in yesterday’s game, as well as 2 RBI and 2 runs scored. A-Rod said in a press conference before Spring Training that he was feeling strong and healthy, and if today was any indication it looks as though the nagging injuries that have plagued A-Rod for the past couple of seasons may be behind him.

After missing a game after fouling a ball off of his foot, Mark Teixeira was back in the lineup and was feeling fine. Good news there.

The Bad:

Like Ivan Nova on Saturday, Freddy Garcia got off to a rough start yesterday when he allowed a home run in the first inning. And like Nova, Freddy served up the home run to Hunter Pence. Turns out he really likes hitting home runs off of Yankees pitchers. Freddy settled in after giving up the home run though, and didn’t allow the Phillies to score after that.

The Ugly:

Nada. The injury-bug has so far been avoided. There are still a handful of Yankees regulars who haven’t gotten their stroke back, but it’s early and that’s nothing to worry about at this point in the spring.
