Pineda, CC, and Injury Updates: Weekend Yankees Links

  • Brian Cashman does not believe Michael Pineda is a No. 2 starter. He cites Pineda’s “below-average change-up” as the basis for this belief, but keep in mind that Pineda has plenty of room to improve that change-up at only 23-years old.
  • Like last spring, CC Sabathia is considerably thinner. But can he lay off the Cap’n Crunch for the whole season and maintain his slimmer figure? We shall see…
  • On February 19th the last headline you want to see is “A Few Early Injury Updates From Yankees Camp,” but here it is and it is actually pretty good news! Joba is progressing nicely, Andruw Jones reported a bit early following a minor knee surgery, A-Rod is “good to go,” and Francisco Cervelli is back to 100% following his struggles with concussions.
  • Finally, in celebration of us all making it through a seemingly never-ending winter, The Captain’s Blog has an interesting look at the 111 years of Yankees spring training.
