I know, I know, bear with me here. I’m not a fan of the Phillies. But I am a fan of the Phanatic and a fan of traveling, and this November 96 Phillies fans will have a chance to travel with the Phanatic to the Galapagos Islands (his homeland, according to Phanatic lore).
The trip is orchestrated by National Geographic and will consist of 10 days/9 nights of experiencing “a place where animals live without fear of humans,” “close encounters with giant tortoises, sea lions, marine and land iguanas,” and an “onboard photo session with the Phillie Phanatic” as you hop from island to island.
Am I ridiculously jealous that there is no Yankees equivalent of this trip? You betcha. Maybe next season National Geographic can plan an expedition where 96 Yankees fans travel to Tampa to spend a week at Derek Jeter‘s mansion. He can’t possibly be using all those rooms so he’d probably never even know we were there.
Anyway, Phillies fans, enjoy your tropical baseball themed trip. We Yankees fans will settle for a trip to the World Series and our 28th championship.
