What I’m Thankful For in Yankee Universe
By Editorial Staff
I intended to do this post yesterday, but then I went into a green-bean-casserole-and-cranberry-sauce coma and could do nothing but watch Elf and go to sleep. So without further ado, here are a few Yankees baseball related things I am thankful for this year:
- Jorge Posada – Whether he retires this offseason or not (and I hope he does), his Yankees career is over. I am thankful for being able to watch Jorge, Derek, Mo, and Andy play for so many years and through so many World Series championships.
- Yogi Berra – I am thankful that Yogi is still in going strong and is able to make it to so many Yankees events. I love seeing former Yankees back at the ballpark, and Yogi brings a smile to my face every time I see him.
- John Sterling & Suzyn Waldman – I know they rub
somemany people the wrong way, but I love them and their quirky game-calling. I’m thankful that they will be back in the booth next season, and I’m hoping for many more after that. - The Phillies – That’s right, the Phillies. I’m thankful that they took Jonathan Papelbon out of the AL East and out of the Yankees/Red Sox matchups. There is no love lost between Papelbon and Yankees fans, and I won’t miss his incessant fist-pumping and excessive mound celebrations.
- Most of all, I’m thankful to be a fan of the greatest franchise in all of baseball. Go Yankees!
Of course, in the true spirit of moving from one holiday right into the next, my next post will be my Yankees Christmas wish list. (Just kidding.)
