The Yankees offense continues to pour on the runs, sinking the Red Sox 6-2 in the first game of today’s double header.
The heart of the batting order came through with Jeter going 3-4 with 2 runs scored and an RBI, A-Rod going 1-3 with a run scored and an RBI, and Jorge going 2-3 with a home run and 2 RBI. (Sure looks like Jorge wants a spot on that postseason roster, no?)
Even AJ Burnett showed up today, putting in a solid 7.2 innings with 5 hits, 2 earned runs, and 6 Ks. All-in-all a pretty great end to the season for a guy who has had more than his share of struggles all year.
Up in Toronto the Rays beat the Jays 5-2, putting them just a half game behind the Red Sox in the Wild Card race. If the Red Sox lose the second game of the double header tonight they will be dead even with the Rays for the AL Wild Card.
