Blue Jays-Yankees Preview: Will Yanks Be First Before Labor Day?

Coming off a dramatic series win over the archrival Boston Red Sox, the New York Yankees come home for a six-game homestand. The first part of the homestand is a three game series with the Toronto Blue Jays (69-68). The Bombers are now just a half game behind Boston and with the Red Sox hosting Texas; I could see New York being in first place by Monday. Jesus Montero is finally in the major leagues, but another Blue Jay prospect might steal his thunder by the end of the weekend.

Don’t take the Blue Jays lightly! They have a lot of good talent on offense being a top five team in runs scored in all of baseball. Plus, their ace Ricky Romero has been lights out over the last month and a half. Also, we couldn’t get through this podcast without mentioning Jose Bautista now could we? This Toronto team will get the chance to play spoiler for the AL East the whole month of September. Plus, keep an eye on this team as maybe a breakout team in 2012.

Here is what I discuss on the podcast:

  • Yankees-Red Sox recap
  • Jesus Montero’s promotion
  • Pitching Matchups
  • Nova working on less walks
  • Morrow’s hit or miss ability
  • Romero’s All-Star stuff
  • Colon’s fastball vs. Aggressive Jays
  • Cecil eats innings, but gives up runs
  • Garcia for Sunday?
  • Pick when Bautista goes yard!
  • Kelly Johnson’s new home
  • Toronto = Breakout in 2012
  • Lawrie’s historical feat
  • Prediction!!
