ALDS Game 1 Postponed; What This Means Going Forward

AUTHOR: | IN: Yankees | COMMENTS: None Yet

After over an hour-long rain delay MLB made the decision to suspend Game 1 of the Yankees/Tigers series until tomorrow. The Yankees have been no strangers to rain this season – they have now had 10 games rained out and another 13 games delayed. Obviously, this puts both teams in a tough position. With CC and Verlander on the mound it looked as if Game 1 would be a magnificent pitching duel. Instead, both aces were wasted tonight and it’s nearly impossible that either team will be able to use their ace in more than one game in this short [...]

‘I Suck at Life’ + new postseason predictions

AUTHOR: | IN: Editorial, Popular, Yankees | COMMENTS: None Yet

Prior to the season, I made some predictions about how the season would pan out. It ain’t pretty. I should have taken John Sterling’s advice. Anyway, check out how wrong I was and see me make an ass out of myself again as I predict how the postseason will play out.

No Nova, No Playoffs For Yanks

AUTHOR: | IN: Yankees | COMMENTS: None Yet

CC Sabathia has been a terrific No. 1 starter and the back of the Yankees rotation has shown more grit and guile than could be expected this season. Simply put, though, if the Pinstripes didn’t have Ivan Nova on their staff they would not be preparing for today’s playoff opener vs. the Tigers. Nova has been terrific this season, going 16-4 with a solid 3.70 ERA. Down the stretch he was arguably the Bombers best starter, not allowing more than four runs in 11 of his last 13 starts. Along with the outstanding 16-4 record, which also means Yankee batters [...]

Tigers-Yankees Game 1 ALDS Playoff Preview

AUTHOR: | IN: Game Preview | COMMENTS: None Yet

Well, Yankees fans, tonight is the night! The New York Yankees start their quest for a 28th World Series Championship against the Detroit Tigers. Game 1 features a matchup between two of the best pitchers in the American League with CC Sabathia going against 24-game winner Justin Verlander. Both pitchers have been great this season, but have not been great against the other team in this series. Most of the experts are picking the Tigers to win this series. I want the Yankees to come out and embrace the underdog role and make the stadium rock tonight! These two teams [...]

Playoff Fever

AUTHOR: | IN: Yankees | COMMENTS: None Yet

If you missed the final day of the regular season, well… you missed one of the most exciting days in baseball history and I feel sorry for you. The Red Sox took a 3-2 lead over the Orioles into the 9th inning, but with 2 outs in the bottom of the 9th the Orioles took advantage of a couple poorly placed pitches from Papelbon to secure the 4-3 walk-off win. A devastating loss to be sure, but the Red Sox postseason hopes could remain alive if the Rays lost to the Yankees. However… Just three minutes after Boston’s loss, Evan [...]

Brian Cashman: Can’t Knock The Hustle

AUTHOR: | IN: Editorial, News, Outside The Yard, Popular, Yankees | COMMENTS: 4 Comments

With seemingly perfect timing, Deadspin drops the bomb that Brian Cashman had an affair during Spring Training in 2009. The story alleges that, in February or March of 2009, Cash and a woman who was not his wife were trailed in Tampa by a private investigator hired by the cuckolded husband, and the following pictures were taken: The man in the picture vaguely resembles Cashman, but I don’t know what’s going on with his hair. I don’t think Bri would be caught dead with that ‘do. This leads me to believe that the story is BS. However, take a look [...]

A-Rod scratched with sore knee

AUTHOR: | IN: News, Popular, Yankees | COMMENTS: None Yet

Bryan Hoch reported that A-Rod was scratched about 30 minutes prior to first pitch of the regular-season finale with a sore right knee. The knee and left thumb have been concerns throughout the season, so I guess it’s better to sit out of a meaningless game and rest for the postseason rather than to push it. Or this could all be BS and he is pulling a Jorge after getting dropped to the fifth spot in the lineup. I kid, I kid. Brandon Laird will start at third and the new lineup will be: 1. Jeet 2. Grandy 3. Tex [...]

Dellin Betances will make his first major league start — second appearance — in tonight’s regular season finale in Tampa. The team will use it’s “A lineup” for the most part, but there are a few wrinkles. Check it out, along with some news and links, after the jump.

Triple-A Yankees to Newark? Mets Say No.

AUTHOR: | IN: Yankees | COMMENTS: None Yet

MLB’s antitrust exemption has struck again. And this time it took the form of team territorial rights. PNC Field, the home of the Scrantion-Wilkes Barre Yankees needs major renovations that will take all of the 2012 season. So in looking for a temporary home for the Triple-A team, the Yankees turned to Bears & Eagles Riverfront Stadium in Newark, which used to be the permanent home of a Yankees affiliate. The problem is, Newark sits squarely within the territory shared by the Yankees and Mets, and the Yankees need the Mets’ permission before temporarily relocating a team there. Unfortunately for [...]
