Jesus will rise tomorrow

The Yanks have announced that they will call up uber prospect Jesus Montero on September 1 when rosters expand.

Montero, who is billed as one of the top prospects in ball, will see time at catcher and DH and if he is nice he could finagle his way onto the postseason roster as a DH, effectively usurping Jorge’s role.

If you’re confused about the eligibility rules for the postseason roster (which are confusing as hell), check this out from Joe Pawlikowski.

This is great news as it will be fun to see Jesus rake in the bigs. It’s always entertaining to see a guy you followed through the minors make it to the show. Congrats Jesus!

However, two players that will not make it to the Bronx this season are pitchers Manny Banuelos and Dellin Betances — 2/3 of the Killer B’s. ManBan threw 128 innings and Dealin’ Dellin tossed 121, and the Yanks feel that they could be major-league ready by next season. Both will be on pace to throw 160 innings in 2012.

It’s kind of weird they didn’t bring them up to work out of the bullpen and get a taste of life in MLB, but, oh well, at least we get to see Jesus!
