A-Rod has slight meniscus tear

The headline pretty much says it all: A-Rod has a slight meniscus tear in his right knee. There are two ways of dealing with the injury, he can either play through it and have surgery after the season or have surgery right now. Girardi said the decision is Alex’, and that immediate surgery would sideline the slugger for about a month.

If I were Purple Lips I would opt for surgery right now. It’s clear he can’t play through it — he hasn’t homered in 22 games and is hitting .229/.229/.257 over the SSS of the last eight games –  and I’d rather have him healthy for the stretch run/playoffs as opposed to 50 percent for the rest of the season.

Or he could go see Dr. Galea and get the whole thing cleared up in a week or so. I keed, I keed.

For what it’s worth, CC had the same injury last year but he was playing just once every five days.
