A-Rod battling sore knee

A-Rod revealed after Saturday’s win that he has been playing through a right knee injury. The injury, which he suffered in last Sunday’s win against the Cubbies, is not considered serious and Al even said it’s getting better each day. Girardi called the injury a sore right knee and team doctors said that A-Rod won’t aggravate the injury by playing.

If this is how A-Rod is playing with a sore knee, tell him to hurt the other one too.

Over his last five games prior to today, the third baseman hit .526/.545/.684 with a .588 BABIP, five RBI, five runs scored, three doubles, two walks and three strikeouts in 19 at-bats. He went 2-for-3 with a double, three RBI, a walk and scored today. You could kind of see him gimping around on his double in the third inning, and he was eventually replaced by Ramiro Pena in the eighth when the game was all but over. Also, I can’t help but think that he went headfirst into home on Swish Dog’s sac fly because of the injury, but regardless it was a very ballsy play.

He now has a six-game hitting streak (12 total hits), a five-game RBI streak (eight total RBI) and has scored six times in his last six games. In addition, he’s the only Yankee regular hitting .300 although he hasn’t homered since a June 11 game against the Indians.

So if you or someone you know is friends with Jeff Gillooly, please cook up a plan.
