Yanks up offer to Jeter

The Yanks have reportedly upped their offer to free-agent shortstop Derek Jeter. Although no figures have been released, there’s been rumblings around the interwebs that it’ll be a three-year deal worth $51 million with an option for a fourth year with a  $6 million buyout. Whatevies, just get this damn deal done.

In news of actual signings, the Yanks have inked righty Buddy Carlyle, 33, to a minor league deal. He played in Japan last year and was formerly in the Yanks farm system.

In news of actual scumbags, Jim Leyritz was given probation and a $500 fine for a 2007 crash that killed a mother of two. I think Roger Clemens should fire his lawyer and hire Leyritz’.
