Right-handed reliever Alfredo Aceves (a Yanks Go Yard favorite) underwent surgery on Tuesday after fracturing his left clavicle in a bicycle accident in Mexico. He will require six weeks of rest followed by three months of rehab, so he should be good to go sometime around April…barring any setbacks. I hate to make light of his situation, but Ace might be the next Nick Johnson.

In other surgery news, Brett Gardner is scheduled for a December 7 procedure for his right wrist. The wrist bothered him late in the season and kept him out of some games, so it’s kind of perplexing why he waited so long to have surgery. Oh well, they say he’ll be ready for spring training so who cares?
