Managing the Phoenix Desert Dogs during an Arizona Fall League game in preparation for his first managerial stint with the Dodgers next season, Don Mattingly ran out of pitchers. I can’t say I’m surprised, but it is what it is. Let Aaron Gleeman, whose tone I didn’t care for, take it away because it’s too painful for me to explain.
This is the third gaffe Hitman has made while at the helm of a ball club. The Dodgers batted out of order one time this past spring training during a split squad game he was in charge of, and he also messed up a trip to the mound in mid-July which forced Jonathan Broxton out of the game (but that ruling was shady).
Regardless of how many times he duffs up a game he’s still my favorite athlete of all time and I’ll love him unconditionally (no homo).
On a lighter note, here is a picture of a goal post for the Pinstripe Bowl going up at Yankee Stadium.
