On Jorge Posada’s 39th birthday, he moved into a tie with Thurman Munson for 17th place on the Yankees all-time list with his 1,558th base knock. He also stole his third base in his last nine games. You read that right, JORGE POSADA STOLE HIS THIRD BASE IN HIS LAST NINE GAMES. Fountain of youth, FTW.
More importantly, the Yanks beat the Tigers 6-2 to remain in a tie for first place with the Rays.
CC was dominant after a sub par first inning. Big Stoppa went seven innings and gave up two runs on five hits with nine strikeouts to three walks before D-Rob and Mo combined to give up two hits over the final two innings.
Also, Grandy is now 8-for-22 since having his swing rebuilt by Kevin Long last Wednesday. Plus, he went down 0-2 during an at-bat Tuesday and worked a walk…against a lefty!!! I’ll take it.
The Bad news:
- Tex is 0 for his last 11 and 2 for his last 19.
- An MRI revealed that A-Rod has a low grade strain in his right calf.
- A different MRI revealed that Pettitte has a strain in his groin and probably won’t be back with the Yanks until September.
Jorge, in honor of your 39th birthday here is how all of us Yankee fans feel about you:
Just kidding JoPo, we will always love you and never forget all you’ve done for the organization. You’re still the man.
