Another disgrace to baseball

The Yanks and Sox will open a HUGE four-game set at the stadium on Friday, with playoff imps everywhere.

After the Rays got murked by the Twinkies on Thursday afternoon the Yanks own sole possession of first place by a half-game, which makes Friday the first time the Yanks will face the Sox this season in first place (Opening Day notwithstanding). Boston is 6 1/2 games off the pace, but that could change drastically this weekend (God forbid).

The last time these two bitter rivals faced off on May 18, Mo blew the save and took the loss because of two unearned runs courtesy of a Marcus Thames error in right field. It was Mo’s only loss of the year and since that game he’s been on point: 27 1/3 innings pitched, 13 hits, two runs (both earned), three walks, 25 strikeouts with a 3-0 record and 0.66 ERA.

The Yanks own a 5-3 record against the Red Cox this season, and here are the pitching match ups for the showdown with Beantown (fourth series of the year):

Friday 7:05:

RHP Javy (9-7, 4.61) vs. RHP Clay Buchholz (11-5, 2.59)

Saturday 4:10:

LHP CC (13-5, 3.19) vs. RHP John Lackey (10-6, 4.48)

Sunday 8:05:

RHP AJ (9-9, 4.93) vs. RHP Josh Beckett (3-1, 5.70)

Monday 2:05:

RHP Dustin Moseley (1-1, 4.13) vs. LHP Jon Lester (11-7, 3.07)

LET’S GO YANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!
