3-0 bitches

*The Yanks are 3-0 in games I attend this season following a 4-2 victory over the M’s on Thursday.

NYY salvaged the finale of the three-game set despite CC being left in too long. There was no reason for him to come out for the eighth inning; if Girardi felt it necessary to trot him out there for the eighth, CC still should have been removed after walking the lead off batter. Oh well, a win is a win. Speaking of which, CC is 6-0 with a 2.00 ERA over his last six starts and he’s gone eight innings in three straight.

They won thanks to some late heroics from A-Rod, who hit his 250th homer as a Yankee (tying him with Greg Nettles for eighth in franchise history) but still found a way to sound like a jackass. Get a load of this quote (via LoHud):

I thought I hit a much bigger home run than I actually did. I hit it and I looked at AJ and Pettitte, and they weren’t jumping over the railing. At that point I felt like we probably had one half inning to play. It was pretty embarrassing.

Come on, guy. To make matters worse, when asked about the importance of the win he got the days of the week mixed up.

We ran into a wave of great pitching on Friday and Saturday. Awkward pause Friday and Saturday. The last two nights, right.

I’ll give him credit, he did play it off pretty well. But, what the hell?

Robbie also went yard, slugging his 16th homer of the year.

Interesting stat on M0 (courtesy of Mike Axisa):

  • Mo’s allowed 12 hits all year. Five of them came within a five-day span, so the other three months or so he’s given up seven hits for a WHIP of 0.59. He’s 40 years old.

The Red Cox were idle Thursday, so the win gave the team a 1 1/2-game lead in the division. The Yanks will look to make it two in a row tomorrow as they open a three-game set with the Blue Jays. The new and improved AJ will be going against Brett Cecil.

LET’S GO YANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

*This post might have incorrect grammar/be too short/not make sense because I got pretty drunk at the game. So please excuse any qualms you have with it.
