Offense, offense wherefore art thou offense?

I’m going to keep this post short because that game was brutal.

Javy pitched very well and deserved more run support than that. That ninth-inning rally was such a cock tease, and the Yanks bats need to wake the fuck up.

Here are some mind-boggling stats for you:

  • So far this season Vazquez and Takahashi have pitched 24 innings in the Subway Series and allowed just one run combined.
  • The Yanks got eight hits and six runs off Halladay on Tuesday. They have since collected 11 hits and three runs off Jamie Moyer, Kyle Kendrick and Hisanori Takahashi COMBINED.
  • The Yanks have scored one run or fewer a total of four times in the new Yankee Stadium.

In other words: FML.

Oh well, the Yanks are still in first place…but the Sox are creeping. They’re just one game back. The Yanks and their bats need to bounce back tomorrow on Hughes Day.

Some post-game quotes:

Javy:

"Everything was working…It’s always tough to lose on a (game like that), but hopefully we can come out tomorrow and win."

A-Rod, who played third for the first time since June 10 (hip):

"Overall I think we have to start scoring runs…We’re going to be fine, we know exactly of what we’re capable of doing. Tomorrow would be a good day to start…It was my first day back but (hip) felt good."

Swish Dog:

"You can’t look at the past, what’s done is done…It’s frustrating for us as hitters ’cause we’re not getting wins for our pitchers…It’s kind of a down time right now, we just got to keep fighting and scratching…Guys might be trying to do too much right now. We’re gunna sleep fast and get back at it tomorrow."
