Doc Gooden busted…again

Former Yankees (among other teams, especially the Mets) star Dwight “Doc” Gooden was busted early Tuesday morning for DWI in Franklin Lakes, NJ, after rear-ending another car. If that wasn’t bad enough, he was under the influence of a controlled substance (not that if it was alcohol it would be any better, it would still be despicable, but with his history of drug abuse…). The story gets worse, as Doctor K had a child in the car with him at the time of the accident. I hope for Doc’s sake it was his five-year-old son Dylan, otherwise it would just be weird.

The Good Doc was also charged with being under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance, endangering the welfare of a child, DWI with a child passenger, leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident, reckless driving, failure to keep right and failure to notify change of address regarding driver’s license.

The disgraced 45-year-old, who has a history of run-ins with the law, is set to be inducted into the Mets’ Hall Of Fame later this summer with former teammate Darryl Strawberry, who is no angel himself. Say what you want about Doc’s (and Straw’s) off-the-field issues, but you can’t deny his performance on the field (same goes for Straw).

Regardless of how much success Doc brought to the Mets, he still threw a no-no for the Yanks and is only human. Although I DO NOT condone his actions by any means, one can only wish him success throughout yet another difficult time in his life. Get well soon, Doc…and stop doing stupid shit!
