Yankees’ legendary trainer Gene Monahan has suffered a “significant illness” and will miss his first Spring Training in 48 years. The longest tenured head athletic trainer in MLB is also in danger of missing part of the 2010 season. Steve Donahue, Geno’s right-hand man for the last 25 years, will take over head-trainer duties in Monahan’s absence.
