Yanks pull off three-team trade, land Granderson

Posted by: Andrew Corselli

Pending physicals, the Yankees have apparently agreed to a three-team trade todaywith Arizona and the Tigers. They filled the void in center by acquiring Curtis Granderson, but parted ways with some components of the bullpen and an OF prospect. Here is a view of what each team got:

The Yanks: CF Curtis Granderson

D-Bags: RHP Edwin Jackson and Ian Kennedy

Detroit: LHP Phil Coke, CF Austin Jackson, RHP Max Scherzer, LHP Dan Schlereth

I guess that’s good they got a center fielder, but they gave up a lot for just one player. Ian Kennedy (though mired by an aneurysm for much of last season) was supposed to be a stud pitcher and A-Jax was a highly touted prospect in center, plus Phil Coke was solid at points throughout the season.

Oh well, I guess the whole “we don’t trade our prospects” charade was for a limited time only.
