Congrats to Jeet and Tex for winning a gold glove
Yankees fans have something else to cheer about following the team’s six-game triumph in the Fall Classic: Derek Jeter and Mark Teixeira have earned Gold Gloves for their defensive work. It’s both players’ first GG since 2006. Tex has been a solid pickup (understatement of the century) since last season’s hot stove, with his AL-leading 39 homers and great defensive work this past season. He made only four errors in 1,275 chances. Following an offseason that saw him get criticized to no end, Jeet turned that into motivation and had one of his best defensive years. At age 35, nevertheless. [...]
Scott Boras has got some balls
Apparently Scott Boras is seeking a four-year deal for free-agent LF Johnny Damon, much longer than the 1 to 2 year deal the Yanks are looking to give him. Does Mr. Boras know that Damon is 36 years old? And can barely play the outfield? Nobody is denying what his bat can still do (and did this past season), but a four-year deal for Johnny is nuts. That double steal in Game 4 off Lidge was priceless, but not a four-year-deal priceless. Isn’t this the same Johnny Damon who wanted to quit prior to the 2007 season? Now, three years later, he [...]
27
Ladies and gentlemen, order has been restored to the universe. The New York Yankees are once again World Series champions. Congratulations to the Bronx Bombers for bringing home yet another title and furthering the franchise’s illustrious history! How weird was that when the Philadelphia Phillies were the world champs? I’m glad that’s over and done with. Let’s hope that’s a chapter of history we never have to repeat. I shudder just thinking about it. Pettitte was solid and Matsui was huge as the Yanks beat the Pills 7-3 Wednesday to notch the club’s 27th title. Godzilla was also awarded the [...]
What a game
Game 4 was an instant classic. Holy shit. What a game. Despite Chase Utley owning CC, the Yanks pulled out a hell of a game. Scoring three runs in the ninth after Joba choked on a fat cock, WOW. The player of the game has to be Johnny Damon. That steal of third won the game; without that head’s up play the Phils win. Fact. (Not to mention his 3-for-5 performance) Damaso Marte is the real deal. Jeter is still The Man. Biggest hit of A-Rod’s career. Period. He’s never had a bigger hit in his life than that RBI [...]
